Get Started
Your group took photos. Now what? Gather Media gives them a home — organized, full-resolution, and easy to share — without the chaos of group chats or the compromises of social media.
Create a collection, share an upload link, and review what comes in. You control the curation.

As a collection organizer, your job is to set up the space, get media flowing in, and decide what stays. Gather Media handles the storage, the metadata (maps and timelines), and the tools. You handle the curation decisions.
You share a simple link with your group — anyone with the link can contribute photos and videos directly from their phone or computer, without creating an account or downloading anything. What comes in lands in a review queue. You approve, organize, and tag it on your own schedule.
How to get up and running
- Create an account and request a collection
- Configure your collection — name, visibility, and description
- Share your upload link — anyone with the link can contribute, no account needed
- Review incoming media — approve, organize, or hide
- Tag and group your media — build the story

Growing your collection over time
Collections can grow as your community does. You can invite trusted contributors who have accounts, and eventually designate other curators to help with the organizing work. This is entirely optional — many collections run fine with a single organizer. See the Help section for details.
Contributing to a collection
If someone sent you an upload link, you don’t need an account. Open the link on your phone or computer, pick your photos or videos, and submit. Your files go to the collection organizer for review before they appear in the collection.
Common questions
Do I need an account to submit?
No. Anyone with the upload link can contribute directly from their phone or computer — no account, no app download required.
What file types can I upload?
Photos (JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP), videos, and PDFs. The collection organizer may restrict accepted types.
Will my photos be compressed?
Your photos are converted to a standard format (WebP) at high quality — not compressed the way texting or social media compresses images. Very large files may be slightly reduced in size during conversion, but the result is still a high-quality, full-resolution image.
What happens to my device metadata?
Location data, capture date, and camera model may be extracted per the collection’s settings to power maps and timelines. All other device metadata embedded in the file (EXIF fields, software version, etc.) is stripped before storage.
What happens after I submit?
Your files go into a review queue. The collection organizer reviews them before they appear in the collection.
Can I remove something I submitted?
Contact the organizer if you have concerns about a file you submitted. If the collection has a contact form enabled, you’ll find a link on the collection page.
Viewing the collection
If the organizer shared a collection link with you (not just an upload link), you can browse the collection without an account — as long as it’s set to unlisted or public. Private collections require an account and an invitation from the organizer.
Becoming a member
If you’re a regular contributor, the organizer can invite you as a member. With an account, your contributions are attributed to you and you may have access to private collections.
Create an account or log in if you already have one.
